About Us

The Haitian Orthodox Mission is now a part of the church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of the Americas. The G.O.C. is the Traditionalist Orthodox Church serving the faithful of the western hemisphere and whose ruling hierarch is Metropolitan Demetrius of America. The church of the G.O.C. of America is an autonomous eparchy whose Mother Church is The Holy Synod of the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece under the Presidency of His Beatitude Archbishop Kallinikos.
The Mission to Haiti began in the late 1990’s when the Russian Orthodox Church outside of Russia sent the late Fr. Gregory Williams to truth-seeking inquirers of the Orthodox way in Haiti. Through the working of the Holy Spirit and Fr. Gregory’s stalwart confession combined with his vivacious attitude, mission churches and schools began to sprout in Haiti. Over the years, through tumultuous ecclesiastic issues, hurricanes, earthquakes, political instability and extreme poverty, the amazing Orthodox Haitians have remained steadfast. Let our work honor them in their fidelity and in their deep fervor which has been cultivated by innumerable privations. The Mission now includes three churches and three schools with approximately 800 students.
